7 Arrests After Ireland’s Biggest Bank Heist

Irish police officers have made seven arrests and recovered 4 million euros (about $5 million) a day after the biggest bank robbery in Ireland’s history, according to Ireland’s state broadcaster, RTÉ.

At dawn on Friday, more than 7 million euros ($9 million) in cash was taken from a vault in the Bank of Ireland’s historic branch in the center of Dublin by a junior employee whose family had been kidnapped from his home the night before by an armed gang. As The Associated Press explains, while the scale of the theft was unprecedented in the Irish Republic, this type of crime is not unusual:
